1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy explains how campperrybsa.com, an independent community and information site about Camp Perry, uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally. The site is run by a small independent editorial team in Texas, USA, and is not affiliated with Scouting America or the Rio Grande Council.
2. What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to save. They are sent back to the website with each request, which lets the site recognize your browser. Cookies are often used for logins and shopping carts, but they are also widely used by analytics and advertising companies to track people across many websites.
Local storage and session storage
Local storage and session storage are features built into modern browsers that let a web page save small amounts of information on your device. Unlike cookies, this information is not automatically sent to the website's server. It stays in your browser, and only pages from the same website can read it.
- Local storage keeps information until you, your browser settings or the site remove it.

Why these items are needed
Each of these items exists only to make a feature you are actively using work as expected. None of them identifies you to us, none of them follows you to other websites, and none of them is shared with advertisers or data brokers. The only personal detail stored is the first name in cp_contact_name, which you typed yourself and which disappears when you close the tab.
What happens if you block them
The site still works if your browser blocks storage or you are using a private window. You may simply see the cookie notice again on each visit, your packing checklist will not remember your ticks, and the thank-you page will show a general greeting instead of your name.
4. What we do not use
We have deliberately built the site to avoid the tracking that is common on the web. Specifically, the site does not use:
- Analytics cookies or tools, such as visitor counters, heat maps or session recording.
- Advertising or targeting cookies, including retargeting pixels or ad networks.
- Social media cookies, share buttons or "like" widgets that report your visit to social platforms.
- Third-party scripts, fonts or embeds, such as hosted font services, embedded videos or embedded maps. All site files, including fonts and images, are served from our own hosting.
- Fingerprinting or any other technique for recognizing your device without storage.
If we ever decide to add any of these, we will update this policy first and, where required by law, ask for your consent before anything is set.
5. The cookie notice
When you first visit, the site shows a short notice explaining that it uses only functional browser storage. Your response is saved in the cookie_consent item so the notice does not keep reappearing. Because the site uses no non-essential tracking, there are no optional categories to switch on or off. The notice is there to keep you informed, in line with the transparency expectations of privacy laws in the European Union, the United Kingdom and several US states.
If you would like to see the notice again, clear the site's storage in your browser (see section 8). It will reappear on your next visit.
6. Hosting provider and server logs
Separate from browser storage, the company that hosts the site may automatically record standard technical information when your browser requests a page. This can include your IP address, browser and device type (user agent), the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. These server logs are kept by the host for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention, typically for a limited period of days to weeks. 7. Other websites
The site links to other websites, such as the Rio Grande Council, scouting.org and government weather and safety resources. Those sites may use their own cookies, analytics and advertising once you arrive there. We have no control over them, and their own cookie and privacy policies apply. If you register for camp or make a donation on the council's site, that site's cookie policy applies to that activity.
8. Managing and clearing storage
You are always in control of what your browser keeps. You can remove this site's stored items at any time, and you can tell your browser to block storage altogether.
Clearing this site's data
Most browsers let you clear data for a single website without affecting others. The exact wording varies, but the steps are usually similar:
- Chrome and Edge: click the icon to the left of the address bar, open site settings or "Cookies and site data", and choose to delete data for campperrybsa.com.
- Firefox: click the padlock icon in the address bar and choose "Clear cookies and site data".
- Safari (Mac): go to Settings, then Privacy, then "Manage Website Data", search for campperrybsa.com and remove it.

9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers can send a Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal to websites. Since this site does not track visitors, sell personal information or use targeted advertising, it already behaves the way these signals request, whether or not your browser sends them. 10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if the site adds, changes or removes a feature that stores information in your browser, or if the law changes.
