It is prepared by a small volunteer editorial team based in Texas, USA. We share what we know in good faith, but the Site is not a substitute for official information from the organizations that run the camp, and it is not professional advice of any kind.

2. Non-affiliation statement

Camp Charles F. Perry in Rio Hondo, Texas, is operated by the Rio Grande Council of Scouting America. This Site is not:

  • operated, owned, sponsored or endorsed by Scouting America, the Boy Scouts of America, the Rio Grande Council or any of their units, districts or affiliated organizations;
  • an official source of camp policy, program requirements, schedules, fees or safety rules;
  • able to register campers or units, reserve facilities or campsites, sell camp merchandise, or accept payments or donations.

When the Site describes the camp, the council or Scouting programs, it is reporting publicly available information or historical records, not speaking for those organizations. Views expressed on the Site are those of our editorial team and contributors, not of Scouting America or the council.

The domain name campperrybsa.com dates from the original 2017 campaign website. Its continued use by this independent site does not mean that the Site is run by, or speaks for, Scouting America or the council.

3. Trademark notice

"Scouting America", "Boy Scouts of America", "BSA", "Scouts BSA", "Cub Scouts", "Order of the Arrow", "Wood Badge", "National Youth Leadership Training", the fleur-de-lis emblem, and related names, logos, insignia, uniforms and marks are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. The names and logos of the Rio Grande Council and any other organizations mentioned on the Site belong to those organizations.

We use these names only to identify and describe the organizations, programs and places the Site is about. This kind of descriptive, referential use does not suggest any sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation, and none exists. Nothing on the Site grants anyone a license to use any trademark. If you are a rights holder and have a concern about how a mark appears on the Site, please contact us and we will review it promptly.

4. Historical materials and the campaign logo

The Site preserves and discusses materials from the original 2017 campaign website, including the "¡Adelante Con Camp Perry!" capital campaign logo, the hand-drawn camp master plan, architectural renderings and sketches of the proposed dining hall and waterfront, and a photograph of Cub Scouts at Camp Perry.

  • These materials are shown for historical and informational purposes only, to document the camp's history and the 2017 campaign.
  • The campaign logo remains the property of its owner. Its display here does not mean that the campaign is ongoing, that this Site is part of it, or that its owner endorses the Site.
  • Campaign goals, budgets, project lists, usage projections and costs quoted from 2017 materials reflect plans at that time. Projects may have been completed, changed, delayed or dropped, and figures may no longer be current.

Where we quote figures from campaign materials, we say so. Please check with the council for the current status of any facility or project.

5. Accuracy and changing details

We try to keep information accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that everything on the Site is complete, current or free of errors. In particular:

  • Camp details change. Facilities, programs, schedules, activity add-ons, prices, fees, dates, age limits and requirements are set by the council and may change at any time.
  • Prices are examples only. Any cost mentioned on the Site, whether current or historical, is for reference and is not an offer or a quote.
  • Directions and conditions vary. Roads, weather, river levels and site conditions can change quickly.
  • History involves interpretation. Historical accounts are based on available records and may contain gaps or differing versions.

Safety and program topics

Articles about water safety, shooting sports, wildlife and outdoor skills are general introductions, not training. They do not replace official Scouting America policies such as the Guide to Safe Scouting, Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat, the instruction of trained and certified leaders, lifeguards and range safety officers, or the rules set by camp staff. Always follow current official guidance and the instructions of camp staff.

Legal, financial and tax topics

Any information on the Site about donating, fundraising or tax treatment is general background only. It is not legal, financial or tax advice. Consult a qualified professional and the receiving organization before making decisions.

7. Emergencies

The Site cannot help in an emergency, and our contact form and inbox are not monitored around the clock. If someone is hurt, missing or in danger, call 911 immediately. For urgent matters involving a camper at Camp Perry, contact camp staff or the council directly.

8. Outdoor activities involve risk

Camping, swimming, boating, shooting sports, hiking and other outdoor activities carry inherent risks, including heat illness, drowning, injury and encounters with wildlife. Reading the Site does not make any activity safe. Decisions about whether and how to take part are the responsibility of participants, parents, guardians and leaders, guided by the camp's rules and trained staff. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for any injury, loss or damage resulting from reliance on information on the Site.

9. Photographs and images

Many photographs on the Site are illustrative images of camping, water activities, wildlife and outdoor life, used under their respective licenses. Unless a caption says otherwise, they may not show Camp Perry, its facilities, its campers or its staff, and people shown in them are not endorsing the Site or the camp. Archival images from the original campaign site are labeled as such. Photographs remain the property of their owners.

The Site links to other websites, including the council, scouting.org, the National Weather Service and other government resources. We provide these links for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement, and a missing link is not a criticism.

11. Donations and giving information

The Site does not collect or process donations. Our Ways to Give and Alumni Association pages describe giving options and historical programs for information only, and point to the council's official channels. We do not receive, hold or pass on money for anyone, and no one is authorized to solicit donations in the Site's name. If you are ever asked to send money to this Site or its team, please do not, and let us know.
